new year, same me

I’ve finally taken the leap into creating my own lifestyle/personal blog. I’ve always wanted to write my own blog for as long as I can remember but I never had any ideas of what to write about. (Maybe because I was about 15 with no attention span and a boring life of just going to school day in and day out but you know)
2019 is going to be full of new beginnings for me! I have so many ideas and thoughts to share and hopefully I can blog a bit more about some of my travels.

ANYWAY, I should probably introduce myself a little bit. My name is Shannon, I’m 20 years old and I live in Scotland. I’m currently studying for a degree in Maths and I’m in my third year of my four year degree. To start off my blog, and the new year, I thought I’d reflect upon some of the things I did in 2018 so here goes, my first post as a ‘blogger’!

(This is defo more of a reflection for me but I hope you enjoy the pictures nonetheless!)

Living my best life partying when the clock hit 12. “Happy New Year!” we chorused. 2018 started with a bang and January was a blast from the start. With a great new years party surrounded by my good friends, followed the day after which was my friends birthday (another not very memorable, but good night!)

January 2018 was my first holiday in probably about 5 or 6 years and by god I was ecstatic. I can definitely say my 2018 started off unreal as I set sail toย Amsterdamย on the 4th of January. It was incredible, although I don’t have too many photos I can definitely say it was an experience and, admittedly, filled with a lot more partying than culture than I would’ve liked.

Being back at uni sucked but hey, it needs to be done. I had a few dry months of just living my life at uni but also some great parties, building new friendships and making some awesome memories. (These are just a few of the most incredible, fun people I’ve met throughout uni and life)

Swiftly moving on. Not all I do is party (but I definitely do my fair share of it – important to stay social though am I right?), after our exams my boyfriend and I jetted off to none other than ROME! This was our first holiday together back in May 2018 and also happened to lie on our 6 month anniversary of us being together (!!!) I don’t think we can top that (unintentional) anniversary celebration now. I must’ve taken about 2000 photos over the three days we were there and I’ve even made a scrapbook for our travels, but these are some highlights for you nosey ones:

I couldn’t have dreamed off a better way to kick start the looooongggg (and I mean long af) summer holidays that followed. And can I just say, Rome is the most beautiful and cultural place ever and I feel that everyone needs to go AT LEAST once in their life!

Summer consisted of working a lot (I’m a waitress, yay how exciting!), seeing my friends and (shock!) partying. Oh and of course my birthday which was also another big party! Following my streak of travels in 2018 I needed to end my summer with a warm, relaxing holiday and my good friend Sahil who lives in Portugalย welcomed me with open arms! (so so thankful, no accommodation costs were a gem!!!! I need more friends around the world hmu) Some gems from the summer:

Returning to go into my 3rd year of uni after summer was the downfall of 2018. Incredible amounts of work and stress and having at least 2 tests every single week of the semester just to be followed by 4 exams which were within the space of 2 weeks was NOT fun in the SLIGHTEST. I think for the whole second half of the year I spent 90% of my time crying and in the library. BRUTAL. Not gonna show you any photos of that. But I’ve worked hard and hopefully, when I find out my results I’ll be sighing with relief cause it’s all worth it (or at least I keep telling myself).

I’ve had a fantastic Christmas period and time off uni. I’ve gotten to spend so much time with Euan (my boyfriend to make that clear) and his family, my family and also working! (haha always something to ruin it eh)

2019 will be the start of more great things to come!! I am speaking this into existence!! I’ve already booked my first holiday down to London so I will definitely be visiting some blog worthy spots down there. (get a few pics for the gram @shannonlee176 hint hint)

This is quite a long first post and I’m still trying to find a good writing style for me, I’m just trying to keep it real out here. Please comment, like or even follow my blog if you’re feelin’ it because there are many more things to come and plans in the works!!

  1. So jealous of all the trips you took! I want to explore Europe so badly, but itโ€™s expensive to initially fly from the US (I heard itโ€™s super cheap to fly around Europe, so I hope thatโ€™s true when I eventually go). Need to save some money, first!

    Welcome to blogging!

    1. I could imagine the cost of those flights to get to Europe in the first place! We are the same but opposite cause I’d love to explore the US soo much! Guess we’ll just have to keep saving up our pennies and hopefully we can both follow our travelling dreams haha
      Thank you!! x

  4. Welcome to the blogging world Shannon. I have only been blogging for almost 4 months, but it is a lot of fun! You will enjoy it. Loved seeing all of your photos from your trips. I have traveled a lot in Europe and had a blast doing it. I have been to Rome and you are right…everyone should go there at some point in their life. I have never been to Scotland though. I would love to go there. Good luck on your blog. You will do great!
